Parsons Graphic Design AAS Commencement Program

I designed an interactive commencement program that transformed from traditional ceremonial keepsake into functional paper airplane. The concept deliberately disrupted conventional graduation program formats—both challenging design expectations and creating potential for spontaneous audience participation during the ceremony itself through coordinated flight.

PROJECT NOTES:

  • Interactive design concept — Creating dual-function object that serves as both informational program and participatory element

  • Ceremonial disruption strategy — Designing for potential collective action that could transform traditional academic proceedings

  • Technical origami integration — Engineering folding mechanics that maintain program functionality while enabling flight performance

  • Audience engagement design — Anticipating and designing for spontaneous collective behavior during formal ceremony
