CASE STUDY: Proposal Design & Development

Over the past several years, I have served as lead proposal developer for an established restaurant group, creating comprehensive responses to municipal and institutional RFPs for high-profile concession contracts. Working under extremely compressed timelines—often just weeks from engagement for production to submission—I have developed a systematic approach that leverages institutional knowledge while customizing each response to specific client requirements and site contexts. Proposals have ranged from focused 40-page submissions to comprehensive 100+ page documents, with a recent 56-page municipal recreation facility proposal serving as a representative example. My process involves coordinating across multiple departments—managing director, sales, operations, and finance—to gather technical specifications, operational details, and financial projections. For each proposal, I develop preliminary branding concepts that visualize the proposed operation, manage information architecture to ensure logical flow, and write new content addressing site-specific requirements. This strategic approach has resulted in multiple successful contract awards for the group.
